Donor Coordination Meeting Held

On March 31, Development Partner Coordination meeting was held online. All the major donors in Georgia attended the meeting. Due to the current important issues in the education system Ekatetine Dgebuadze, the first Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Tamar Sanikidze, executive director of Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project (I2Q) and Nino Kutateladze, the World Bank senior education specialist joined the meeting.

Ekaterine Dgebuadze provided a brief update on the process of progress of Education Strategy 2022-2030 and Action Plan. She talked about the importance of donor support in crafting the education strategy. Strategy is being developed within the I2Q Project supported by the World Bank.

Ekaterine Dgebuadze also talked about the Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project’s basic components. She mentioned the importance of donor coordination to effectively use their resources. This will provide transparence of the processes and timely and permanent information exchange. Cooperation with donors will continue with Coordination Council as well as working thematic groups.

The Project implementing partners are the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia (MoESCS) and the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia (MDF) with the support of World Bank.

The legal basis for implementation of Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project is Loan Agreement No 8955-GE between Georgia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), dated, June 18, 2019. Project consists of 5 components and will be implemented during six years: 1. Improving Quality of and Access to Early Childhood Education (ECE); 2. Fostering Quality Teaching and Learning in General Education; 3. Strengthening Financing Options and Promoting Internationalization in Higher Education; 4. System Strengthening and Stakeholder Communication; 5. Supporting Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation.
