The I2Q Project Implementing Partners Held Meeting with the World Bank
On June 9, 2021, the meeting was held among the World Bank, and the I2Q Project Implementing Partners’ (MoES and MDF) representatives. Participants discussed the ongoing activities of the Georgia I2Q – Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project and agreed on the next steps.
Tamar Sanikidze, Executive Director of I2Q Project presented information on progress and implementation timeline of activities under each Component, including but not limited to diagnostic study of early childhood education (ECE) in Georgia, procurement of technology equipment for schools and new financing model of higher education.
Tamar Sanikidze also noted that with involvement of local and international experts, the process of preparing full package of regulatory documents of Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) will begin in the nearest future. CIF will be established as a grant project coordinated by the MES to foster the modernization of higher education programs and learning environments.
Ekaterine Dgebuade, the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia talked about the process of developing Education and Science Strategy and Action Plan, which is supported by the World Bank within the framework of the I2Q Project.
I2Q project facilitates the education reform agenda and is well aligned with the Country Partnership Framework for 2019-2022. The project aims at improving access to early childhood education, enhancing the quality of general and higher education and improving of learning environment.
