SDSURF Continues to Work to Improve the ECE Quality

I2Q Project ECE Component envisages improving quality and access to early childhood education throughout the country. Together with other concerns, a new remuneration policy for ECE teachers, and a professional development system for ECE professionals are designed among them.

SDSURF implements complex activities. Within the multimodule cooperation, SDSU experts shall study the current remuneration system of ECE institutions. The study aims at overseeing issues related to the basic salary of the staff directly involved in the educational process, including the sources of funding, the criteria for defining the salary, the concept of distribution and priorities, etc.

Research works will be conducted in 69 municipalities shortly and include surveys of representatives of the agency, kindergarten directors, and educators. The research will be conducted by Analysis and Consulting Team (ACT) Global researchers. ACT Global is San Diego State University’s contractor company. An online meeting was held with ACT Global researchers to discuss various issues related to the research, including the target audience and the content of the questionnaires.
The research results will facilitate to study of various issues related to employment/employees in ECE institutions (overtime, performed duties, professional development, etc.). Within the scope of the research SDSURF experts will prepare evidence-based recommendations. The recommendations concern the methods of defining the minimum salary and determination of the minimum remuneration for different levels of professional development.

Another visit of San Diego University experts to Georgia is scheduled for early April.
