Information Meeting with Unicef Georgia Representative

Various development partner organizations implement significant projects together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with the aim of developing the education sector. For effective coordination and to avoid topic overlaps, an information meeting was held on November 17, 2023, between Tamar Chkonia – I2Q Project ECE component lead, and Anna Janelidze – UNICEF Education Program head.

The head of the early education component talked about the ongoing work within the ECE component under the I2Q Project supported by the World Bank. Ms. Tchkonia noted that San Diego State University Research Foundation experts are actively working on the ECE sector development. Their activities include interventions in four main directions: promoting the introduction of the quality assurance framework document and the development of relevant monitoring tools, a data reporting system model development that is important for quality assurance of early and preschool education, and improving the processes, professional development of pedagogues and caregiver-pedagogues and increasing salary policy to support the continuous professional growth and retention of qualified staff and improving the existing school readiness program and promoting the implementation of the updated school readiness program.
