Experts from San Diego State University Presented the Completed Work to the Steering Group

San Diego State University experts presented the completed work to the steering group during their visit to Georgia. The meeting took place at the San Diego University office in Georgia on September 11, 2024. Tamar Chkonia, the lead of the I2Q project’s early and preschool education component, provided a detailed introduction to the purpose and agenda of the meeting.

Professors Douglas Fisher and James Marshall from San Diego State University explained the activities covered by the contract to the steering group. They reviewed the project phases, issues related to early and preschool education quality assurance, and the training conducted for educational and administrative personnel. Mention was made of the additional training provided to 15 kindergarten educational and administrative staff in the Gori municipality based on feedback received from trainers and the initial results of piloting professional development training modules.

The successful authorization simulation conducted in Kindergarten #1 in Gori was highlighted, along with the training of 177 educational personnel from 32 municipalities across the country in the ECE educational program and school readiness program. San Diego State University took the initiative to prepare several videos focusing on inclusive education, teaching with projects, working with families, literacy development with large and small groups, physical development, and transition between activities, among other approaches promoting child development, for the professional development of educational and administrative staff.

The experts also discussed the upcoming project phases, which involve close cooperation with the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement to simulate the authorization process. They expressed gratitude to the Steering Board members for their support and cooperation, acknowledging that stakeholder recommendations would be taken into consideration in their work.
