Description

The goal of this project is to pilot, evaluate and implement an objectively structured teaching encounter (OSTE) in the Medical Education field of Georgia. OSTE as an effective model for improving the teaching and interpersonal communication skills of academic staff and promoting their professional development, has already been tested in Western countries and the United States of America. This will be the first such project in Georgia, which will contribute to the training of personnel and the full implementation of a modernized, integrated curriculum.

Activities

To achieve the project goals, university spaces have already been equipped for OSTE simulations. Workshops were held and training and evaluation materials were developed in order to adapt the OSTE model to the Georgian reality. Also, the academic staff was trained in OSTE methodology with the involvement of English international experts. Additionally, pilot OSTE is implemented in the universities and the Georgian model has been  developed.

The final stage of the project envisages the dissemination of the project results, which implies the implementation of the OSTE model in the regional universities, publication of articles in international journals, holding a conference and uploading the developed OSTE guidelines and training materials to websites.

Sustainability

For ensuring the implementation, dissemination and sustainability of the project, a solid platform will be created in both partner universities to train working groups, with the direct involvement of British international experts.
