Description

The goal of the project: to create a student-oriented virtual environment using modern veterinary technologies and innovative methods, which is related to the modelling of veterinary cases and the study/demonstration of targeted clinical and practical skills, the development/confirmation of skills provided by the specialty (disciplinary) practice program through simulation environment.

Modern innovative methods of learning and evaluation, such as Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE) methods, will be introduced in the teaching of preclinical and clinical training courses.

To achieve the project milestones, SJSU partners with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Caucasus University of the Republic of Turkey.

 

Activities

In frames of the project, the existing laboratories and infrastructure of SJSU will be modernised and a result oriented learning environment will be created. High quality veterinary simulators and training dummies will be purchased. Leading specialists of the field will conduct tailored training and masterclasses.

Modification of syllabus and higher academic programs in preclinical and clinical subjects in the field of veterinary medicine is foreseen, bringing them in line with innovative methods, modernised infrastructure and material resources. Potential employers and alumni will be involved in the process.

 

Sustainability

The training dummies and simulators purchased for the purpose of introducing the innovative, modern methodology of learning and assessment in teaching will be placed in the laboratories of SJSU for their multiple usage. After the completion of the project, the equipment in the renovated laboratories will be used repeatedly throughout the teaching period by trained teachers. This also creates an opportunity to successfully use the material resources acquired within the framework of the grant project, in order to successfully accredit and implement the new higher academic educational programs developed in the university.

Sustainability will also be ensured with modified/upgraded academic programs and syllabi, which will be tailored to innovative learning methods and labour market requirements.
