The Activities Carried out under the I2Q project aimed to Support the Development of the GE Quality Assurance System presented to Stakeholders
Within the framework of the I2Q project, the international consulting company IBF Expertise S.A. is successfully enhancing work to promote the improvement of the quality of teaching and learning in general education in Georgia. From 2021 to 2025, numerous activities have been held with the involvement of international experts aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement and preparing public schools for the authorization process.
On April 14, 2025, stakeholders gathered to review the work completed between 2021 and 2025 in support of the general education quality assurance system.
The meeting was opened by Ana Mghebrishvili, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia. She emphasized the significance of the ongoing initiatives under the I2Q project.
In her presentation, the Head of the General Education Component of the I2Q project detailed the efforts to support the quality assurance system for general education. Following directives from the Education Quality Enhancement Center, international experts from IBF Expertise S.A. retrained 150 members of the general education institution authorization expert corps during 2022-2023. Additionally, measures were implemented to enhance the capacities of the School Authorization Council. Before the official authorization process commenced, a pilot authorization process was conducted in several schools under the guidance of these international experts. Supporting resources for schools were also developed, contributing to the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement’s institutional readiness to initiate the authorization process for public schools.
Importantly, within the I2Q project, assessments of the progress of authorized schools are periodically conducted under the supervision of an international expert to improve the authorization process. The recommendations prepared by the experts are used for further enhancements to this process.
During the meeting, a representative of the General Education Quality Assurance Service of the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement presented the main findings and recommendations regarding school authorization, along with the school authorization manual.
In a panel discussion, representatives from pilot schools across different regions shared examples of best practices in school authorization.
The thematic assignment package developed under the I2Q project was transferred to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, as well as to the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement for implementation in the education system.
In his concluding remarks, the Acting Director of the National Center for Education Quality Development highlighted the effective activities carried out through coordinated cooperation.
The event was attended by representatives from public schools, educational resource centers, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement, the World Bank, as well as members of the School Authorization Council and the Center’s Coordination Council.
