Seminar on Continuous Formative Assessment (CFA) of Students Held

On November 14, 2025, an important seminar on Continuous Formative Assessment (CFA) for students took place, organized by IBF Expertise S.A. with support from the I2Q Project.

The seminar was led by Norman Emerson, an international expert and specialist in student assessment from IBF Expertise S.A. He presented to stakeholders covering the following key aspects:

  • The results of a baseline assessment conducted as part of the project, which evaluated the existing system of formative assessment and identified the main challenges in its implementation;
  • Strategies for formative assessment proposed within the framework of the project, along with activities undertaken to pilot these strategies;
  • Experiences from pilot schools and a training module focused on formative assessment.

Attendees included representatives from various departments of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth, such as the Department of Preschool and General Education, the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement, the National Center for Assessment and Examinations, and the Education Management Information System, as well as representatives from the pilot schools.

During the seminar, results from the CFA piloting were presented. Teachers from participating schools shared their experiences and discussed how they assessed students’ work using success criteria and assessment rubrics.

The second half of the seminar featured a panel session led by an assessment expert. Participants engaged in discussions on how to implement the results of the CFA piloting at a systemic level. The event concluded with a summary provided by the Deputy Head of the Department of Preschool and General Education.
