TSU Hosts Closing Event for the ICT Educational-Industrial-Scientific Hub

The Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) held the concluding event for the project: “TSU ICT Educational-Industrial-Scientific Hub”. The project was funded through the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) grant competition under the I2Q Project with the support of the World Bank. It was implemented by a consortium led by TSU in partnership with San Diego State University (USA), University of Évry (France), and South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences (Germany).

The project established a unique center – a Hub – designed to bridge the gap between education, science, and industry. The Hub serves as a nationwide platform for enhancing computer science education, integrating industrial practices, and promoting gender inclusivity in STEM fields.

The Hub’s infrastructure is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, including:

  • High-Performance Workstations: Powerful computing systems designed for Big Data processing and Machine Learning;
  • Network Infrastructure: Server support providing seamless access to cloud resources;
  • Modern Video Studio: An “All-in-One” integrated space for recording video lectures and high-tech equipment for live video conferencing.

One of the project’s key milestones is the modernization of academic programs: The Dual Degree Bachelor’s Program in Computer Science has successfully received accreditation;  A Dual Degree Master’s Program in Computer Science has been developed and prepared for accreditation.

Furthermore, in collaboration with international partners, a comprehensive Gender Inclusivity Action Plan in ICT was developed for TSU. The project also produced a manual on modern teaching technologies and a guidebook for teaching computer science in higher education institutions.

The closing event was attended by the Head of the Competitive Innovation Fund Administrative Unit (I2Q Project). Following the official opening of the Educational-Industrial-Scientific Hub, guests toured the new facility and received practical demonstrations of the high-tech equipment in action.
