Mikheil Chkhenkeli Discussed the I2Q Project Implementation Details

Mikheil Chkhenkeli Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport met with Sebastian Molineuss, the World Bank South Caucasus Regional Director, Harry Patrinos, the World Bank Practice Manager, Lire Ersado, World Bank’s Program Leader for the South Caucasus, Europe and Central Asia Region, Sorren Nelleman, World Bank Senior Economist and Nino Kutateladze, senior education specialist. The meeting aim was to discuss I2Q Project implementation details.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli thanked the World Bank representatives for unprecedented support and all implemented and ongoing projects. According Minister the steering committee will be shaped to supervise new 6-year project sustainable development. The committee will manage the financing to cover all the challenges throughout education system. There are challenges in every level of education including infrastructural and quality enhancement among them. Mikheil Ckhenkeli highlighted that I2Q project will affect early childhood and general education students, as well as HEIs students, also school teachers and administrative staff and will support to appropriate learning environment.

Besides, Minister talked about the reform in high education and mentioned the result-oriented new model of financing. The new model is in the process of improving with active involvement of educational and science institutions.

Sebastian Molineus said that coordinated project implementation process is very important involving Government as well as responsible representatives of MoESCS. Mr. Molineus said that the World Bank will support quality enhancement with boosting human capital.

On March 5 MoESCS will held conference concerning Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project supported by the World Bank. The I2Q Project consists of five main components: Improving Quality of and Access to Early Childhood Education (ECE); Fostering Quality Teaching and Learning in General Education: Strengthening Financing Options and Promoting Internationalization in Higher Education; System Strengthening and Stakeholder Communication; Supporting Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation.
