Infrastructure Projects Discussed during the WB Implementation Support Mission
Within the scope of the World Bank Implementation Support Mission on March 24, an online meeting was held with Vakhtang Babutsidze, the I2Q Project Infrastructure Project Coordinator – Engineer.
Vakhtang Babutsidze talked about ongoing and planned activities in infrastructural directions. He mentioned that working on the improvement of the school infrastructure and physical standards is underway. Developing the standards’ first draft will be completed soon.
The ECE component includes building from 2 to 10 model schools. The schools will have the combined physical and educational environment for school readiness programs (SRP) and elementary education beneficiaries. The General Education component supports the construction of up to 8 new model buildings using the revised standards.
The selection of initial criteria of 150 schools was agreed with the MES and the World Bank. Pre-school classrooms to be opened to introduce modern and child-centered SRPs.
Rehabilitation of up to 40 General Education Institutions is planned throughout the country under the project.
