Updates in General Education Quality Management System
One of the main goals of the Georgian education system is improving the education quality. What does education quality mean? What makes the general education quality management system excellent? How and when can it be improved? Which tools can be used for its improvement? Which structural units are involved in quality assurance, and how responsibilities are distributed?
To answer all the abovementioned questions and develop a quality assurance system at the national level, the I2Q Project (with the support of the World Bank) provides the development and approval of the policy document (framework) for quality assurance in the general education system. Works are underway, and a concrete strategy for quality enhancement is developing for the first time. The strategy is not only about quality control, it will support schools in problem solutions and be timely informed. The document will also include the system vision, definite goals, research tools, resources, and diverse ways for interventions.
Based on the best international experience and considering the Georgian reality, international consultant Mr. Harmut Mayer worked on the concept of the policy document. On March 17, Mr. Mayer submitted the elaborated document to the Ministry of Education and Science and I2Q PMU for consideration.
