The 2nd International Conference on Early Childhood Education and Care in Batumi

Tamar Chkonia, I2Q Project ECE component lead, participated in the 2nd International Conference on Early Childhood Education and Care.

The conference theme was the Power of Play: The Central Pillar of Quality Early Childhood Education and Care. The I2Q Project ECE component lead discussed the activities and future ongoing in the Early Education sector for quality and access improvement. With the support of the World Bank, the San Diego State University Research Foundation was selected through an international tender to implement the multi-component intervention – Consulting Services for Improving Early Childhood Education Institution Management Service and Enhancing the Quality of Program Across the Country. Professor Frey, SDSURF international experts team leader, attended the meeting online. Professor Nancy Frey talked about San Diego State University’s early childhood experience, which she implements in play-based programs in Georgia.

The conference’s purpose was knowledge sharing; cooperation deepening, and the EC education and care sector development; the growth of the sector professionals, and awareness raising of the society and policymakers.

Experts, practitioners, and policymakers in early childhood education attended the meeting.

The 2nd International Conference on Early Childhood Education and Care was organized in Batumi by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport of Adjara; Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University and with the support of UNICEF Georgia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
