Another seminar was held in order to successfully pilot continuous formative assessment of students
Within the framework of the I2Q project, along with the strengthening of the entire school in the direction of general education, the consulting company IBF International is actively working in the direction of improving and developing the effective formative assessment system for students. Under the guidance of Norman Emerson, a Scottish expert in the field, the updated methodology and practice of formative assessment is being successfully implemented in 15 pre-selected pilot schools in different regions of the country.
In order to receive further feedback from the teachers involved in the process, further workshops were held on June 7-8, at which the participants presented the achieved progress and practice-based feedback in small group presentations. It is worth noting that the teachers of schools involved in piloting share their experiences with colleagues from nearby schools, which serves to create and expand the sharing network between schools.
The teachers participating in the workshop noted that the formative assessment mechanism and tools offered by the international expert are very practical. The model of effective formative assessment of students presented by the expert provides a complex task tool and offers schools four specific formative assessment tools, such as success criteria, effective inquiry, etc.
In order to digitize the formative assessment process, an international expert has proposed the Moodle electronic learning platform. He provided teachers with updated information on using the learning platform. The platform is an effective tool for collaboration between teachers, sharing of practices and continuous professional development. The platform will gather all the necessary information on the topic of continuous formative assessment of students, including an electronic training module. Also, there will be an opportunity to create an individual profile and portfolio for all teachers.
The international practice of continuous formative assessment of students was reviewed at the meeting.
