CIF 1 Funded Project – Development of the Master Program Concept for Public Administration Law – Presentation of Final Results

On July 12, 2024, a presentation was held to deliver the final results of the project “Development of the Master Program Concept of Public Administration Law,” which was funded as part of the first grant competition of the I2Q Project Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF). This project is being implemented by a consortium involving LEPL – Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and LEPL – Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

The purpose of the consortium project was to research the content of the existing public law master’s programs in Georgia, study the peculiarities of the legal profession in the public service system, the analysis of the professional development system in the public service and other relevant legal acts, the preparation of a foreign experience analysis document and to create a concept document for the master’s program in governance law.

The purpose of the summary conference was to develop the final version of the public administration law master’s program concept document based on the stakeholders’ feedback.

The conference was attended by the academic staff of the institutions implementing the project, as well as representatives of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Georgia, the Public Service Bureau, the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement. From the side of the I2Q project, the Higher Education Component Lead took part in the conference.

During the event, the importance of the project was emphasized in terms of the education system and public service reform. An active discussion was held around the analysis and conclusions of the regulatory legal acts, and the concept of a new master’s program, which involves the development of legislative changes and the creation of a 60-credit master’s program using the dual teaching method in higher education, aroused special interest.

The public service representatives present at the event noted the need for a master’s program in public administration law for training professional civil servants and expressed their readiness to ensure the sustainability of the project’s results, including participation in the development and implementation of a pilot model of the master’s program.
