The Third International Excellence School was held at Kutaisi International University

Within the framework of the I2Q project, the third International Excellence School took place from January 24 to January 26, 2024, aimed at promoting the internationalization of higher education in Georgia.

The third International Excellence School event was organized by University College London (in partnership with consulting company Savvy Business Ltd) and jointly hosted by Kutaisi International University and Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University.

Tamar Ghvamichava, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of including activities that strengthen internationalization within the higher education component of the I2Q project. She stated, “International schools promote academic and scientific cooperation, foster the generation and sharing of new knowledge, and create opportunities for rapid development that align with the strategic priorities of the country. This event will enable young scientists and researchers to deepen their understanding of intellectual property rights in higher education. Protecting intellectual property is critical, as it safeguards the rights of the academic community and ensures the responsible sharing and use of research results, ultimately enhancing competitiveness and internationalization.”

The third International Excellence School focused on Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the field of Higher Education. 30 young scientists and researchers attended the event. During the three-day event, participants enhanced their understanding of patents, trademarks, and copyrights through workshops, simulation activities, case analyses, and group work.

Two previous events (IES1 and IES2) have already taken place in Georgia under the International Excellence School format within the scope of the I2Q project. The general objective is to build research capacity within Georgian universities, enhancing the quality of their research structures, processes, and outputs.
