International Doctoral Education Programme Governance and Administration in Education and Science – Developed and Accredited
With the support of the World Bank, within the framework of the I2Q project, we have a significant achievement in the direction of internationalization of higher education – International Doctoral Education Programme: Governance and Administration in Education and Science has been developed; Joint Degree awarded by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Georgia and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece.
The program is a collaboration between TSU and NKUA, focusing on quality, relevance, and internationalization. The curriculum reflects international standards, covering topics such as educational leadership, science governance, and policy analysis, and includes innovative teaching methods like problem-based learning and real-world research projects.
The new joint PhD program fosters a cross-cultural learning environment, engaging students in coursework and seasonal schools to address global challenges. The program features joint admission boards and co-supervision between TSU and NKUA. The Georgian government is financing the first cohort of PhD candidates, further emphasizing its commitment to advancing doctoral education. This program aligns with Georgia’s strategic goals and reinforces the country’s role as a leader in collaborative doctoral education.
The “International Doctoral Education Programme: Governance and Administration in Education and Science” is structured to provide doctoral candidates with a comprehensive academic experience that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application. The program’s curriculum includes core courses, alongside specialized modules tailored to individual research interests. This ensures that candidates not only gain deep insights into their fields but also develop the interdisciplinary skills required to address complex challenges in education and science administration.
The program has achieved complete cluster accreditation. This acknowledgment strengthens our dedication to promoting international academic partnerships and delivering top-notch education. With its global focus, this program is set to draw students from across the globe, fostering academic exchange, cultural diversity, and a broader worldview in higher education.
The joint doctoral program was developed as part of the higher education component of the I2Q project by UCL Consultant in collaboration with Savvy Business Ltd, which was selected through an international tender.
The I2Q Project HE component envisages the interventions for strengthening the internalization of HE education. The assignments under the HE component are in compatibility with the National Strategy of Education and Science. They are focused on the partnership goals with international research centers and universities, strengthening the skills and competencies, learning and research potentials, promoting the linkages with the labor market, raising the level of English language learning, and increasing the competitiveness of the students and young researchers.
