The Second Cycle of Practical Mentoring for Kindergarten Teachers in Gori Municipality is Underway
The Second Cycle of Practical Mentoring for Kindergarten Teachers in Gori Municipality has begun, supported by the I2Q project and the World Bank. The San Diego State University Consulting Research Foundation (SDSURF) is actively working to enhance early childhood education and care in Georgia.
The mentoring cycle started on May 14, 2025 with a one-day training session for both administrative and educational staff from 15 kindergartens in Gori Municipality. This two-week program aims to improve educators’ qualifications and promote practices that focus on the holistic development of children.
During the preparatory training for the mentoring sessions, educators were introduced to the updated curriculum’s goals, which include promoting children’s self-regulation and conflict resolution, along with other crucial topics. The training format combined theoretical and practical group work, engaging both educational and administrative staff fully.
The mentoring visits, led by local experts in early childhood and preschool education, are based on the findings and recommendations from a pilot study conducted by San Diego State University in 2024.
These training sessions and mentoring visits will help kindergarten managers and administrative staff enhance parenting and educational processes while implementing child-centered approaches.
