A new Inter-university Teaching and Research Laboratory Focused on Translational Neuroscience has been Established at Tbilisi State University

A new inter-university teaching and research laboratory focused on translational neuroscience has been established at Tbilisi State University. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to allow researchers and students to investigate various cellular and molecular mechanisms of the nervous system.

The laboratory was created as part of the initiative “Development and Implementation of a Modern Translational Neuroscience Program in Georgian Universities for the Improvement of Higher Medical Education.” It was funded through a grant from the Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) as part of the I2Q project.

This inter-university hub includes three institutions: Tbilisi State University, Caucasus International University, and Grigol Robakidze University. With assistance from foreign experts, a structured inter-university doctoral program in “Translational Neuroscience” has been developed for the member universities of the consortium. Once the program receives accreditation, doctoral students will conduct their research under the supervision of both Georgian and foreign co-supervisors.

The opening ceremony of the laboratory was attended by Tbilisi State University Deputy Rector Nino Gvenetadze, TSU Faculty of Medicine Dean Maia Bitskinashvili, Executive Director of the “Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project – Georgia I2Q (WB)” Tamar Sanikidze, representatives of partner universities, professors, and students.
