“Smart Greenhouse” and Drone Laboratories: IIATEP Project from CIF for the Modernization of Georgian Agro-Education

Representatives from the I2Q Project Competitive Innovation Fund (CIF) visited Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University to learn about the progress of the project – Integrating Innovative Agrotechnologies into Educational Programs (IIATEP).

This project is being implemented by a consortium consisting of Telavi State University, Alte University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Georgian Farmers’ Association.

The goal of the project is to modernize the Bachelor’s degree program in Agronomy at TESAU, as well as the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Viticulture and Enology at Alte University, and the Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science at Alte University.

In collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, an agrotechnology module has been added to the Master’s program in Viticulture and Enology at TESAU. Additionally, the Bachelor’s program in Computer Science at Alte University has been developed to include new courses.

A “smart greenhouse” has already been established at TESAU, and laboratories for drones and smart devices are currently being developed at both TESAU and Alte University, utilizing relevant technologies.

Within the framework of the project, an international agrotechnology conference was held at Telavi State University, attracting both local and international experts in the field.

Plans are underway for meetings with farmers, facilitated by the Georgian Farmers Association, where attendees will learn about the agro-technological innovations that have been implemented. Furthermore, a camp will be organized, bringing together local and international experts to introduce students to the latest advancements in the field of agro-technology.
