World Bank Regional Director Visited Tianeti School STEAM Innovative Space
To highlight the significance of the innovative educational environment established through the Innovation, Inclusion, and Quality Project – Georgia (I2Q), the project’s Executive Director, along with the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Roland Price, and the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baya Kvitsiani, visited the STEAM innovative workspace (STEAM LAB) at Mirza Gelovani Tianeti Public School N1.
During the visit, students showcased their innovative projects developed in the STEAM LAB to the respectable guests. They provided detailed insights into the activities conducted in the laboratory and demonstrated the practical skills they acquired in this unique space.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that “the STEAM extracurricular program and innovative workspace is crucial for future generations, as it creates greater opportunities for developing and implementing innovative programs in practice.”
The STEAM innovative space at Tianeti Public School N1 is equipped with cutting-edge technology and resources that support interactive teaching methods. Special Kits include programming, robotics, STEAM, and educational and scientific kits, also options for wind energy and green energy; 3D printer, drone, and computer equipment. The space features specialized furniture that meets the modern standards recommended by international experts. The innovative space includes a video conferencing system that enables remote connections with other schools, facilitating joint STEAM projects and events.
The piloting of the STEAM extracurricular program, supported by the World Bank, is currently underway in 200 schools across the country. Within the scope of the I2Q Project, over 400 natural science subject teachers have completed training, and more than 3000 students are involved in the STEAM extracurricular program.
