STEAM Innovation Space to Open in Borjomi Public School N1
Following the recommendation of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, and with the support of the World Bank within the I2Q Project, an additional, 13th STEAM innovation space will be established in Public School N1 in the city of Borjomi. This space will also be equipped with appropriate furniture and specialized STEAM educational resources.
To ensure the successful implementation of the STEAM extracurricular program and the effective operation of the laboratory at the school, it is essential to enhance the skills of the relevant personnel at Public School N1.
On November 6, the Head of the General Education Component of the I2Q Project and an International STEAM Expert from IBF Expertise S.A. visited Public School N1. The expert provided recommendations for setting up the STEAM space to the space manager and conducted specialized training for science teachers and interested students.
During the training session, the international expert shared insights on key activities involved in implementing STEAM extracurricular programs in schools, encouraging participants to engage in active collaboration.
“I am delighted to meet you. Over the past two years within the I2Q Project, I have assisted 200 schools in Georgia in setting up STEM laboratories. Twelve of these schools have created similar unique spaces that you will soon have here at your school. These schools have demonstrated exceptional results and developed successful projects. You can also use the unique equipment provided through this project to address various challenges in your beautiful city. Seek ideas, work hard, collaborate with other schools, create, and share your results”, – the expert said.
The International Expert explained the principles of using green energy devices, Arduino, and other equipment in detail, step-by-step, to the training participants. During the practical session, attendees assembled a wind-powered turbine, operated a robot car using electrolysis, and were introduced to innovative teaching approaches, among other activities.
The official opening of the STEAM Innovation Space at Borjomi Public School N1 is planned before the end of the 2025.
