Beneficiaries: Ilia State University (ISU), BAU International University Batumi
Project Name: Education for Better Employment: A Partnership in Innovative Healthcare
Implementation Dates: 08/2023 – 01/2025
Total Project Cost: 560,646.45 GEL
Grant Amount: 511,986.45 GEL
Description
The project aims to promote integration of higher education with the labour market in the field of healthcare by developing modern, innovative educational programs and establishing sustainable, intersectoral partnerships. For this purpose, a consortium of state and private higher education institutions is being established, which will study the needs and trends of the healthcare market and will take care of the rapid modernization and availability of educational programs and research. The Hospital Association and the Curatio International Foundation, employers with different profiles, partner the consortium in the aspects of public health and health policy, as well as institutional management. The project develops a complex approach to collaboration between educational institutions, employers and students in the field of healthcare.
Activities
To analyse the healthcare labour market, quantitative and qualitative research was carried out in frames of the project. As an outcome, healthcare specific required competencies and skills, as well as employment and HR management challenges were found. Health institutions/organisations, students and alumni took part in the research. On top of that, Georgian employment platforms – healthcare employment tendencies and required skills were also analysed.
In frames of the project, training courses based on modern teaching methodology will be elaborated with an involvement of international experts. Additionally, based on the evidence revealed by the labour market research, short-term teaching courses will be developed to be available both for ISU and BAU. The consortium will prepare documentation to accredit newly elaborated training programs and to integrate them in lifelong and professional education systems of the Ministry of Health.
Training courses focused on priority issues and practical skills will be integrated into the curricula as optional subjects or as additional/updated components in the main subjects.
At the end of the project, it is planned to organise a conference and a career forum, where employers, health associations and other interested parties will participate. The forum will be held annually and will contribute to bringing higher education closer to the labour market.
Sustainability
Sustainability of the project results is analysed in several ways. On the one hand, the developed modern, sustainable and flexible tools can be successfully used in future not only in the field of healthcare, but also in various educational processes (for example, a labour market research tool, educational programs and trainings, annual career forum, etc.). On the other hand, as a result of the project, human resources and quality of partnership will increase/strengthen, which, in turn, is important in terms of future cooperation and long-term project results.
