STEAM Innovation Space Opens at Borjomi Public School №1

On December 26, 2025, a STEAM Innovation Space was officially opened at Borjomi Public School №1, where students showcased their creative projects and demonstrated the use of modern learning resources. It is noteworthy that the students had full access to high-tech equipment provided with the support of the World Bank, within the I2Q Project.

The innovation space is available to students of all levels, enabling them to turn theoretical knowledge gained in natural sciences into practical experience. Students actively utilize Arduino and Raspberry Pi programming kits, as well as 3D printers for modeling and printing various objects. This process is guided by natural sciences teachers, who serve as the primary mentors and supporters for the students.

Impressively, the students managed to prepare a STEAM project in just three months for the national competition Future Georgia 2025. Both teachers and students involved in the program noted that the expertise provided by international expert Professor Jeffrey Nowak greatly aided them in planning and implementing their projects. According to the school principal, although the initial steps were challenging, the collaboration between teachers and students allowed them to achieve what seemed impossible.

The opening event was attended by the head of the Borjomi Resource Center and representatives from other schools. The head of the Resource Center emphasized the importance of teaching STEAM subjects to address the challenges of the 21st century and noted that this space presents a significant opportunity for other schools in the region. Notably, Borjomi Public School №6 is already equipped with a similar laboratory.

The Lead of the General Education Component of the I2Q Project encouraged students to always consider the connection between their projects and real-life applications. Borjomi Public School №1 is the 13th educational institution in Georgia to receive full access to modern technology and STEAM educational resources through the support of the World Bank, within the Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project.
